He is out front with a little wooden Liqing, which he offers to Beila.

"I made you this."

"Aww, thank you! Look, Liqing, it's you." Liqing is not impressed. "She loves it," Beila says anyway. Waft onto bird. Pilot bird to house.

One hugs one's girlfriend round the waist when one is being ferried via roc. That is what one does.

"It took me ages to get it looking like your bird and not just a bird, I'm glad I finally got it to come out well."

"She's totally identifiable," Beila confirms.

Dao grins. "I feel all accomplished and stuff!"

Liqing lets them off at Beila's house, receives scritches of the small feathers near her neck, and flies away.

Beila makes Weird Fruit Smoothies and hands Dao one.

He tries it.

"Yep," he says. "That's a weird fruit, all right. It is both weird and fruity."

"Yeah, it's not bad but she shouldn't have gotten quite this much of it."

"Well, I will help you out by drinking your weird fruit smoothies."

"I appreciate that."

"Happy to help!"

Sip. Sip. "You're feeling better, seems like."

"I'm - yeah."

[roc_on]

"That's good."

[thinklikethis]

"Yeah. Uh, how've you been?"

[roc_on]

"Eating a lot of weird fruit. Conventional Avatarring stuff. I read half of a really good book on South Polar history and then lost it on the train and have it on hold again at the library."

"Aw. That poor book, getting lost on the train."

[roc_on]

"Yeah. But it was awful flying weather, so I stand by my train use, I wouldn't have wanted to be late to the memorial."
